In 1972 Madam Thelma was a student at the Free University of Berlin in Berlin, Germany. It was during this time that she was first introduced to the perfume world. After class she found herself wandering through the various shops and boutiques of Berlin and found her way to a unique perfume store. As she entered this shop she was captivated by the exotic aromas of perfumes. She purchased a bottle of a special blend and began asking the Perfumer questions about perfumery. Soon she began making regular visits to this perfumery, asking more questions and learning more about perfumes. This led to contacts in Paris, France, learning the art of perfumery before returning home to Louisiana.

In 1999 while at the flea market browsing the merchandise of various vendors she came across a box that was tucked away in the back of all the other items on display. It was full of elegant empty perfume bottles…and she purchased it. She was filled with happiness and joy as she recalled memories of her days in Berlin and memories of the perfumery filled with enchanting scents of intoxicating fragrances.

At home she began formulating perfumes and gave them to her neighbors as gifts. One neighbor in particular, Miss Suzie Mae, recognized the talent that she had and encouraged her to perfect her gift for perfume design. Other friends encouraged her to design perfume boxes with exotic themes having bold and beautiful colors and patterns. This led to opening her own perfumery, Bayou Queen Perfumes in the Kelly Land Quarters of Alexandria, Louisiana in December of 1999. She decided to launch a new type of floral perfumes…Bayou Tropical Perfumes.

Bayou Tropical Perfumes were special fragrances that captured and highlighted the seductive scents of the tropical regions of the world blended with fragrances of the Bayou regions of Louisiana. The Bayou region is filled with rare and tantalizing florals that will entrance you with their mesmerizing and beautiful aroma.

In December of 2003 Madam Thelma received a telephone call from a doctor from the Philippines who was living in Florida. He asked her to create a special perfume for his wife from the fragrance of the beautiful and romantic Sampaguita flower. Sampaguita Romantic Perfume was born of LOVE!

The Sampaguita flower has a very sensual, exotic aroma. The seductiveness of Sampaguita Romantic Perfume mingles with the freshness of hidden florals and other tropical essences and is designed to stimulate memories of LOVE and affection.

Sampaguita Romantic Perfume by Madam Thelma was launched in January of 2004 and is now available for everyone to enjoy.
